10. Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary:


It is one of the most popular wildlife sanctuary in the Southern part of India. Located on the foot of the Western Ghats, it is also a Tiger Reserve. It is the only Wildlife park in India which is open in the monsoon season. It also boasts of a huge Elephant Population. There are many other animals which have made it their home.


9. Dandeli Wildlife Reserve:


It is the abode of many endangered species of flora and fauna. The Sloth Bear, Black Panther and elephants are the main attraction of this sanctuary. Located on the banks of the Kali river, it also boasts of a large amphibian population, mainly crocodiles. It is also one of the most popular bird watching sites in India and is home to the Hornbill. It also provides an opportunity for trekking and river rafting.


8. Bandipur National Park:


It is the most popular wildlife sanctuary in South India. It is a natural home to Elephants and many endangered species. You can also take a day off from your trip to ooty to visit this park. Anything from a wild tiger to a normal deer can be spotted in this vicinity. It is one of the most well protected sanctuaries in India. 7. Hemis Wildlife Reserve:


Also known as the Hemis High Altitude National Park, it is the biggest protected area in India. Located in the Eastern Ladakh region, it offers a unique experience to the adventurer in you. There are no motor-able roads in this park and most of it has to be covered in foot, through small trekking paths which lead you to breathtaking views. The Himalayan Snow Leopard, the Tibetian wolf, the Endangered Eurasian Brown Bear, the Red fox and the Argali are some the rear species which are found here.

Situated on the banks of the Brahmaputra river, the land is mostly covered in swamps and thick grass. This serves as the best habitat for the Indian one horned rhino. 4. Kanha National Park:


Also called as the Kanha Tiger reserve, it is the best Tiger reserve in India.The lush Sal and Bamboo makes it one of a kind. This is the forest which inspired Rudyard Kipling's famous novel "The Jungle Book". Magnificent beasts pass the path of your Safari if you start early morning, leaving every bit of you startled.


3. Ranthambore National Park:

Other than being home to The Royal Bengal Tiger and a vast variety of snakes and crocodiles, you will get a rare glimpse of a Gangetic River Dolphin if you are lucky. It is named after Jim Corbett, a hunter turned conservationist who played a vital role in establishing it. Located on the foothills of the Himalayas, it is the perfect place for the Wildlife enthusiasts. It is mainly known for its Bengal Tigers and Asiatic Elephants. It also provides has various adventure activities on offer with rock climbing, rappelling and rafting being some of them.
